colleen avila is a multimedia artist from frederick, md with a BA in studio art and philosophy/neuroscience/psychology (and a minor in latin american studies) from washington university in st. louis. they have familial roots in el grullo, jalisco, and lima, peru.

their work centers on ancestral memory, alienation, love, labor, and gender, which each intersect in their embodied life as a latine person born in the united states. their love of labor and craft manifests in a mixed media approach which consistently utilizes painting, woodworking, sewing, collage, and poetry. in their free time, they enjoy cooking, eating, watching movies, and spending time with loved ones.
